Hopkinton, Franklin or Medway?

Moving in from out of state. Some friends have recommended these 3 towns. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I'd be happy to assist you with your search in this area. To obtain specific information on each town, I would suggest that you view the towns website.

You may email me or call me, I'd be glad to help!

I'd suggest Hopkinton....convenient to Rte. 495, commuter rail to Boston, and you can be at Cape Cod towns/beaches

in an a little over an hour.

The Boston Marathon starts right in Hopkinton center too.

Schooldigger.com is a great site to learn about the schools in the area if that is a concern

moving to this area. If I can be of assistance please don't hesitate to contact me. at nbutterly@ziprealty.com

Good lluck with your home search and welcome to Massachusetts!

You may also wish to check out Millis, Norfolk and Wrentham.  If you have school age children, there is a website www.schooldigger.com that can give you the info. on how the school compare.  Property taxes in these towns vary greatly so be sure to keep an eye on that bottom line of taxes

I'd personally choose Hopkinton first.  The schools are know to be really good there, nice small town feel, and very low crime.

I would advise against Medway.  My dad lives there.  The taxes are just as high there, but the town has a hard time delivering services (like not having their own fire department at night).  90% of the taxes collected are from homeowners and that's just crazy.

Re: Hopkinton, Franklin or Medway?

Here is as unbiased a viewpoint as you will get.  I grew up in Holliston(great sense of community, greatschools for many, many years, very low crime, but little industry and access to major highways is poor).  I was a realtor in Hopkinton in the late 80's(and am currently a realtor in Michigan who is finally returning to MA after 20 years).  Hopkinton experienced a tremendous building boom in the 80's and early 90's. The schools are as good or better than Holliston, and it has great access to the major highways.  It is likely to be pricier than Medway or Franklin.  Hopkinton had the available land, access to 495, and the willingness that Holliston did not to attract business.  Personally, I think Hopkinton's downtown is not as charming as Holliston's.  Regarding Medway, it too, experienced quite a building boom at the same time as Hopkinton.  Schools are good, but the "town center" is strung along Rte. 109, and isn't as attractive as Holliston or Hopkinton.  Franklin also had a huge influx of building in the 80's and early 90's, and has excellent access to major highways. The condo market was heavily overbuilt in that town.  All of these towns have low crime rates and good to great schools.   Hopkinton High and Holliston rank very high on Boston Magazine's annual Top 50 High Schools List(Holliston was #21 last year; Hopkinton was either just behind it  or just before it).  You may also want to consider Ashland and Millis; perhaps Upton.
