I have been looking at the Gold Canyon area for quite some time via internet.. So far, I love what I am seeing. Can anyone provide detailed information about this area? I know that there is recreation available in the Superstition Mtns. but what else does this community provide? How are the neighorhoods? Crime? Shopping? Doctors/Hospitals? Last winter husband and I were in Mesa, liked it however a little on the "busy" side for us traffic wise. Is Gold Canyon a little less?
Thank you so much for any info.
Regards

My cousins live in Gold Canyon. It is out there -- close to the Superstition Mountains, but connected by a major highway. It is beautiful, fanatstic views, quiet, single family homes, nice landscaping for Az. Not many stores and such yet. Lots of critters - snakes, scorpions, cayotes, gila monsters, etc. Have to be careful with pets.

Thanx for your reply. Lots of critters, WHAT?! I can handle most but I think ya lost me when you said scorpions and snakes. Do the residents have any problems with the "critters" getting into their homes?

My cousins have mentioned close calls in the yard and garage, but I don't recall specifically in the house.

I own a house in Peralta Trails, which is a gated community in Gold Canyon. Since the house is on a wash, with a view fence (great views of the Superstitions), I always thought I would hear of problems with critters, but none of my 3 renters in 7 years has ever mentioned a problem. I don't even have a pest control service - and there are no problems with bugs or other critters getting in the home.

Thank you for your reply. I am definately not a fan of scorpions or other critters. Ya know, there was a special on the Discovery Network that showed scorpions being a problem IN the homes out there. The renters eventually moved out as the owner was bitten in her sleep. YIKES!! Mercifully she did recover.
Gold Canyon looks like a beautiful, quiet area. Planning on coming out this winter (around oct-nov) to check out the area. I can hardly wait. I need to get out of Illinois for the winter months due to health reasons.
Thanks again for your reply. ![]()

Good luck! I'm from Chicago myself. Been here 7 years and love it - I also love to visit my former home town when I can ....in the summer time.
