Welcome to the ZipRealty community! Thank you for posting in the forums.
I will contact one of the local agents to see if they are able to answer this question for you.

As in all cities, there are many nice neighborhoods in Tempe. As Realtors, we are not permitted to suggest certain neighborhoods over others. If you would like to get in touch with me, I would be happy to give you some links that might be of help to you in your community search. You may reach me at eileen.harris@ziprealty.com or by phone at 480.219.8299. If you choose not to do that, you might try the Chamber of Commerce in Tempe as they are not restricted from providing the type of information you are seeking. I would be happy to help you find a home in Tempe and I can assure you, we would find the right area for you and your family.
Kind regards,
Eileen

Honestly, I feel it's really hit or miss with Tempe. I know a number of people who live there and many of the neighborhoods seem a bit run down and many are rented to college students. When we searched the area we settled on the Desert Breeze area not far from Tempe in N. Chandler close to Chandler Fashion Center. There is one nicer neighborhood in Tempe that is off McClintock (a major North South road), they have horse properties in the area. I belive the area is North of Elliot and South of Baseline.
