I'm new here, from Northern CA, surprised by the comparative affordability of water-proximate property. Can someone please teach me about Ocean Beach vs Pacific Beach vs Point Loma as places to live/buy property? A nd what about Imperial Beach, down south?  Thanks!

Hi Beach Crazy,

What exactly would you like to know?  The best thing to do would be to drive the different areas as each have a distinctly different feel.  Ocean Beach tends to be more hippy, Pacific Beach more party, and Point Loma more of a neighborhood feel.  Although I am not too familiar with Imperial Beach I would estimate it to be the more affordable of the four areas.  There are a range of real estate options in all as well.  From condos to detached homes.  Feel free to call or email me if I can answer more specific questions or help in any way.

Welcome to San Diego County.  Ocean Beach and Imperial Beach are 2 of my favorite areas in San Diego.  Just curious where do you work?  That is, I.B. is a bit far in terms of daily commute for most people.  If you telecommute or work in the South Bay, then this is not an issue.

Pacific Beach is also a great place to live.

I can tell you that IB is going to be more affordable due to it's proximity to Mexico...sometimes you have some not so great smells waft in and swim restrictions due to the lovelies across the border dumping.
