There are plenty of sites to search .  We are from the East Coast Jersey area and have been here for 10 years. We absolutely love it. Little hot(but not as bad as Phoenix) Wonderful in the Winter.

Unfortunately Tucson's close proximity to the Mexican border brings higher crime rates. Drug cartels have made it unadvisable to visit the beautiful beaches of Mexico ie. Rocky Point. Car theft especially pick up trucks are stolen and exported to Mexico at increased rates thus resulting in higher insurance premiums. I purchased a home here in  a nice community Continental Ranch on the once desirable NW side. Due to numerous foreclosures, short sales and more specifically rental homes, crime in my neighborhood is at unprecedented levels. Illegals are inhabiting our homes establishing marijuana "drop houses", graffiti and vehicle break ins are now commonplace. In retrospect, I would personally look for homes in the state of Texas where values are affordable and cities like Austin, San Antonio and the Dallas area offer a much higher quality of life.

Another source to look for crime statistics is Http://www.pimasheriff.org.  Tucson has a small town, clean new city feel to it.  It has a University here so you get the college events going on.  We have the Gem show concluding.  The World Accenture golf tournament is coming up and Tiger Woods is going to be here.  They put the ropes down so that the kids can get autographs from their heros.  After that, the Rodeo is coming.  Mexico is an hour away.  Many go get prescriptions filled cheaper, visit the dentist, buy cool trinkets, and party.  We have major medical center facilities as well as the non-traditional medicine followers.  I didn't even mention the restaurants with their great food.  You can lock your doors and never go out or you can embrace the community and enjoy all the events and the great people that give their all to make this a great place to live.  I try to be safe and security-aware.  I am also a veteran of the Air Force.  I prefer to enjoy the sunshine and live my life to the max.  If you're not sure if this is right for you, take a vacation and check it out for yourself.

Tend to disagree with this perspective. There are many great neighborhoods in the Continental Ranch Area. Area has picked up in sales and crime is not as prevalent as this retired officer would have you believe.
